Last Saturday, December 14th, Santa Claus came to the RWN Charity Shop. The weather was cold, wet and miserable, but it wasn’t long before all our hearts were warmed with a Christmasy glow. Children of all ages came to the grotto in the shop, and when the sky cleared from the rain, Lorraine, Jean and Santa took a walk through the town, spreading good cheer and smiles through the community.
RWN recently nominated our chairperson Tara Farrell to the board of the Roscommon Community Forum. We are delighted to announce that she was successful not only in achieving a seat on the Forum, but was also elected within to serve as Chairperson. With recent and upcoming changes in the funding and organisation of community development projects and also the reallocation of governance powers to local governments, it is more crucial than ever that strong advocates for grassroots community work step forward to ensure a seat at the table. To mark the 16 days of action Roscommon Women's Network are holding a walk in Castlerea on Tuesday 10th December at 12 noon to to raise awareness of the reality of domestic violence and to push for positive change to increase women's safety.

Roscommon Womens Network are hosting an exhibition of all our supports and services around the County at Gleesons Townhouse & Restaurant, The Square, Roscommon at 11am – 1pm on Friday 27th September. There will be information and specialists from each service and support available on the day to talk to you. E.g. Counselling, Family Therapy, Training Centre, MAB’s and many more… There will be information on our activation to employment initiative “The W.I.N.D.O.W. Project”.
